Kreativ Blogger Award

So I've been given another blog award. Wow! A big thanks to Katie from A Stitch in Time for the nomination.

This time I'm meant to tell you 7 facts about myself:

1 - I'm the youngest of 5 girls, I have 5 nephews, 2 nieces and there's only 2 months and a day between me and my eldest niece.

2 - I've never broken a bone, never been in a car accident and not had many injuries at all. My sister on the other hand was forever falling over, breaking bones and spraining limbs. Completely accident prone!

3 - I have IBS and Endometriosis. I guess that makes up for being lucky with injuries, but on the up side it probably led to my renewed interest in crafting and my current career path. Silver Lining!

4 - I have been proposed to several times, but never by a boyfriend.

5 - 4 years ago (gosh time flies!) when I was in Lesotho I met a prophet who told me I was going to have a son. She didn't specify when though!

6 - I have literally had to sing for my supper. In 2005 when we were working in an inter-celtic festival in France my sister I went back to the lodgings of a bagpipe band and as we weren't meant to eat there we had to stand on a table in the dining hall and sing a duet before we were given anything to eat. Fun times!

7 - Once when I got home from work someone rang the doorbell looking for my flatmate. I said he wasn't in and hung up the buzzer. I hadn't realised that the guy on the other end had driven 75 miles to see our friend and had to sit in his car outside for over an hour until my flatmate came home. I felt guilty about locking him out and spent the night talking to him. Well we got on very well and 4 and a half years later we're still together!

Right so now you know a little more about me I have to nominate 7 others to pass the award along to:

Lucy from Attic24
Cathy from Little Eve
Laura from She Draws
Gabrielle from The Green Gal
Caroline from Chain of Daisies
Julie from Little Cotton Rabbits
Constaca from Saidos da Concha
Looking forward to getting to know these ladies a little better too!

So the rules are post the pic, you link back to me, tell us your 7 facts and pass it along to 7 others, letting them know that they've gotten this lovely award. Have fun!

The Circle of Friends Award

Well as I mentioned yesterday Jessica from Imagination in Flight has nominated me for the Circle of Friends Award. Thanks Jess!so first off I need to share with you 5 things that I love. Here they are:

1: My Sister

She's two years older, four inches shorter, and jetting away to Canada next month with her lovely fella for a whole year! And as we live 450 miles apart already I'll not get the chance to see her again now before she goes. Sob! I've promised to buy a web cam and get skype up and running so that we can continue to natter (and believe me the girl can natter!) as usual.

2: Jeff

Jeff was my sister's teddy who was left unwanted and abandoned on her windowsill until my chubby little fingers were able to drag him down and he hasn't left my side since. He is extremely agoraphobic, enjoys reading stories about vampires and helps me with my sewing. He will also be choosing giveaway winners so keep your eyes peeled for more Jeff!

3: Boiled Eggs

Confession - I actually had to postpone writing this post so I could go and boil some eggs after searching for pictures of them made me hungry! I could live on boiled eggs. If I was stranded on a desert island and could choose 3 things to take with me a Chicken would definitely be one.

4: Symmetry

image c/o APPLIQUE

The OCD in me loves symmetry. Everything needs to be equal and straight and dividable - neat and tidy. Have had to put away the rug we had in the living room because BF would kick it out of place on purpose just to watch me get up and correct it. Very very mean.

5: Harry Potter

Guilty pleasure? Nope, no guilt here! I was the same age as Harry when the first book came out, and boy did I wish I went to Hogwarts! I love the escapism of these books and every few months I stick on the audio books as a background to sew to and get disappointed at the end of the day when I have to turn them off.

So there you have it - 5 of my many loves. Now here are my 5 nominees:

Abbi from edwina.simone
Alicia from Posie Gets Cozy
Jane from APPLIQUE
Allisa from Quiltish
Christina from The Sometimes Crafter

Check them out - lovely people and lovely blogs!

A Productive Day

Well the blog has had a makeover. Do you like it?? I do! A massive thanks to Dionne over at The Ink Studio for her amazing work. All the graphics are completed and uploaded so it's time to get this show on the road! I spent my morning doing all of that and ordering stationary etc. and I've even found time this afternoon to get my squares finished for the new quilt.

Back to the sewing machine:

And voila, a completed pinwheel square!

Would you believe me if I told you all of my seam are this perfect? How about if I smile innocently and flutter my eyelashes?? Thought not. Although if the seams were all perfect then it would lose the handmade touch, look too manufactured. Keep telling yourself that Nerys!

Anyways I'm off to the ironing board to give these a quick run over before trimming them and sewing them together. But before I go I just want to say that the lovely Jessica from Imagination in Flight has given me The Circle of Friends Award. A perfect end to this gorgeous day! Basically you blog about 5 things you absolutely love and pass the Award on to 5 deserving blog friends of your choice. I'll be doing that tomorrow then!

Folksy Friday

So I thought it was fitting if today's Folksy Friday was all about stitches! I went to get mine out today and after much prodding and pulling (ouch!) was told that they were nowhere near ready to come out - Boo! Anyway at least I got a theme for Folksy Friday hey?

So here they are - my fave stitched or stitch themed items of the week:

This pretty pretty hand stitched brooch is by Tamsyn G

This lovely heart shaped brooch is attached to a card and doubles as a valentine's card. It's by Petal Textiles

These colourful hand stitched hearts are by Cloudberryskies. I also love her skull brooches but I'm afraid that I rather look like one at the mo with not being able to sleep well recently!

Look at the symmetry of this little beauty! It was embroidered by Applique Originals. Go visit her blog too as there are some beautiful cuffs there that she hasn't listed yet.

And finally for something a bit different. I'm sure BF would agree that I've been somewhat of a stitch bitch at the minute! These lovely badges are by Badge the Badger.

Oh and just a quick note of thanks to the lovely Jo Anglezarke for nominating me for my second Sunshine Blog Award. How lovely!! Now I'm not up to nominating another 12 people, so for those of you who haven't yet seen it, check out my original Sunshine Blog Award post. And please take a look at Jo's Sewing is for Girls blog.

So I hope everyone has a great weekend - I certainly will with the 6 nations starting tomorrow. What on earth is better than muscly men in shorts?? Go Wales!!

Sunshine Blog Award!

So this morning I boot up the computer, go get a bowl of weetabix, open up my emails and what do I find? A lovely little blog notification saying that Sarah from Wrapped Up With String has nominated me for a Sunshine Blog Award. This has completely made my week! It is so reassuring to know that there are people out there who actually read, let alone enjoy my random musings!

The Sunshine Award is awarded to bloggers whose positivity and creativity inspires others in the blog world.
The rules for accepting this award:
- Put the logo on your blog or within your post.
- Pass the award onto 12 bloggers.
- Link the nominees within your post.
- Let the nominees know they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
- Share the love and link to the person from whom you received this award.

So my first thought when I read the part about passing the award along was "How am I going to find 12 people to give it to?!" but as soon as I realised the size of my blog list it soon turned into "How am I ever going to choose just 12?!"

So after much deliberation here they are, in no particular order, my most favourite blogs that I regularly read:

Dottie Angel - Tif's dealings with Mr Hook and lots of yummy yarn are always amusing and if ever I'm feeling a bit off I just click over to her "shiny space". When there you can't help but feel soothed and relaxed.

The Linen Cat - Beth's items are seriously sweet and her blog has inspired me to play around with linen. I'm usually a cotton girl through and through! Also I love her design scrap book and want to start something similar myself when I get up and running.

Curly Birdie - Quite simply, Maria is one of those people who makes me wish I had babies purely so that I could dress them in her adorable Crochet booties and hats. I'd recommend her handmades to any mum.

Lucy Kate Crafts - Amy makes the cutest softies - her blog is a felt haven and I love her tutorials. Well worth a visit for anyone not familiar with her blog!

The Rainbow Room - All of Claire's products are so vibrant. Her blog is like a virtual cure to SAD syndrome. I defy anyone who's having a bad day to pop over to her blog and not crack a smile.

Happy Zombie - Monica's items are so inspiring. The colours and fabrics that she uses are gorgeous and I love some of her more wacky designs!

She Draws - Laura designs and makes the loveliest handmade buttons. She also carves her own stamps and prints onto fabric. I love the illustrative style of her designs.

Don't Look Now - The most beautiful quilted items I have ever seen In my life. I am green with envy every time I pop over to Kellie's blog! There are some great tutorials there too. Go take a look!

Messy Jesse - Jessie sews the loveliest pouches, purses and rolls. Currently she's offering free worldwide shipping in her etsy shop so go take a look!

Attic 24 - Lucy's blog is hands down my favourite crochet blog. I love the vibrant yarn that she uses and her beautiful home adorned with cushions and throws has inspired me to do a bit of crocheting for me and my home this year.

Allsorts - Jenny creates the sweetest embroidery patterns, makes lovely dolls and stuffed toys and has some handy tutorials on her blog too. But the thing that impresses me the most is her marvelous craft workshop - I am green with envy!

The Royal Sisters - I am very jealous about Michelle's ability to make the loveliest crocheted cushions. Round and puffy, you just want to take a run and jump on one!

So there you have it - my top 12 blog list, all of whom are, in my opinion, well deserving of a lovely Sunshine Award. I hope they'll all be smiling as much as I am right now when they receive them. Happy Days!
