Back Again!

Gosh how did it get to being August already?? Time has really flown this summer. So some of you may have noticed my 10 day blog silence. Sorry about that! Have been away on me hols to Pembrokeshire again and wasn't organized enough to prepare some posts in advance like I had intended.

This time BF and I took a couple of first timers to Pembrokeshire along with us so we packed a lot of sightseeing into our trip. We went from not being able to see 20 feet in front of us for the mist, to having glorious sunshine, and everything in between. But it was warm and dry for the most part and we had lots and lots of fun.

And after days and days of searching different sites we eventually found a geochache!


Geocaching is fast becoming my new favourite thing to do. It's like being a member of a secret society! For those of you who, like me up until about 2 weeks ago, have no idea what geocaching is, it's basically global gps treasure hunting. You go to the website and look up the co-ordinates for a nearby chache and off you go to search for it. You can take a trinket and leave your own, or just sign the log book if like us you didn't have anything small enough to leave. It's so much fun!

Anyways it's back to the sewing machine with me. I have a custom order to be getting on with and a craft fair to prepare for at the end of the month. I'm actually looking forwards to getting stuck in - I've enjoyed my hols but I'm getting crafting withdrawals!

Oh I Do Love To Be Beside The Sea Side!

Well first of all I'd like to apologise for my blog silence over the past week. No I did not drop off the face of the earth! Last Friday I flew back to Wales to surprise my sister who has now jetted off to Canada to live for a year. Obviously I couldn't mention anything about it before I left as she's known to lurk around blogland herself.

But my flight back last Sunday was cancelled and as my parents had a ferry crossing booked to come stay with me the following Saturday I decided to stay a week and spend some more time with Sis before she left. Which ment more time to spend galivanting round glorious Pembrokeshire!


I had a Wale (excuse the pun) of a time! Burnt to a crisp, swam in the sea, visited family, listened to live music and barbequed it up. But it's back to the sewing machine today. I managed to get a few things done whilst I was away but I hadn't expected to be staying so long so I didn't have much with me. My mum and I embarked on a little knitting project which I shall be blogging about later in the week.

Handmade Weekend

Hello All. I'm back! Had a cracking weekend, but crawled through the door at 1am this morning with a stonker of a cold in tow. Needless to say it was a very restless night! Well at least it didn't come about at the beginning of the weekend.

The reason for my trip back to Wales was that one of my friends from school is going to Australia for a year - time for a surprise Bon Voyage party! I wanted to get her a prezzie but it needed it to be something that she could take with her so I decided to make her a passport cover:

The flower is a bit wonky but I'm pleased with my first attempt and it fits like a glove. Gonna make myself one soon.

Also I had a few custom orders to deliver - more bunting. They seem to be popular!

I think this is my favourite colour combination so far. The blue is so pretty!

I started using polka dot fabric for the flags too - so cute!


So after all of that crafting I took a well deserved walk on the beach in the beautiful sunshine.

But all good things must come to an end and it's back to the grindstone this morning. Having said that I did arrive home to find three parcels full of fabric, yarn and buttons waiting for me. Yum! I just need to get rid of this darn cold now. Happy Monday everyone!

Yearning for Yarn

It always seems to go that when you've got a big stack of paperwork to get though there is something jumping up and down, waving its arms and shouting "pick me instead"!


For me yesterday it was this stack of yummy yarn that kept calling to me. "Grab a hook, take me out to the beautiful sunshine and turn me into pretty flowers" it kept saying.

Regretfully I had to decline, and once I was done with the paper-mound, went on to re-organize my craft room. All the while BF and friends where sunning themselves on a beach in Donegal. He came home and told me that he'd found a marvelous piece of driftwood for me to hang my lovely craft bits from, but then they'd gotten stranded and had to use it as a bridge to cross a river. How helpful that information was to me!

It's not all bad though. I worked, tidied, wrote, organized and threw away, all the while comforting myself with the knowledge that in less than a week I too shall be walking along the shore here:

But plenty more to be getting on with before then. I have several meetings and appointments this week, and I need to make birthday prezzies for my Dad, Mothers Day prezzies for my Mum, a few custom orders and a secret prezzie that I'll give you a sneaky peak of once it's finished. All before Thursday. Best get on then!

Happy New Year - Blwyddyn Newydd Dda!

Hello 2010! How did everyone enjoy their Christmas and new year celebrations? I made it back to Wales (just) for /Christmas, then back to Derry (just) for New Year's Eve. I was really lucky as the weather was bad both days that I was travelling, but in the end there wasn't a delay on either flight. Phew!


As BF and I were spending yet another Christmas apart (as yet we've never spent Christmas day together), we had a big dinner together about a week early. It was very yummy, even if I do say so myself. I of course made too much food but hey, Christmas comes but once a year right?

Then it was off to Bristol for lunch with my 4 sisters, before heading on to Wales for a much overdue catch-up with friends and family. Christmas was lovely - I spent a lot of time with my Gran, my parents and my sister. I ate a lot, didn't drink too much but was still very merry!


Then on boxing day I went for a spin with my parents to walk off some of the excess food we'd devoured the day before. Now I can honestly say that this is my favourite place on earth - Ceibwr. It's in north Pembrokeshire and there's nothing quite like sitting here on a really stormy day watching the sea crash against the cliffs. There's something quite comforting about this stretch of coastline. I often drove down there on my own but it's a place where I never feel lonely.

Anyway BF has reluctantly put off taking the Christmas tree down until tomorrow, so we've been constructing flat pack furniture over the past couple of days so I can get my craft room organized. The end of Christmas is so depressing - I need a distraction. And I have plenty to be getting on with!!

I'll be sure to put up some pics of the craft room when it's finished. My camera has decided that after 5 years of service it's going to abruptly retire, so I'll pretend that that's why I'm not putting a before shot up - I'm afraid it's gotten quite messy in there at the mo!
